Bonding a blown plaster wall in south London

Like most experienced painters and decorators accustomed to the often unstable walls and ceilings of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian London, we are used to repairing areas blown plaster.

With the repair shown below, bonding, or undercoat, plaster with PVA was used initially, followed by a surface coat — redecoration had things looking sharp once more.
